Nice park for hiking especially close to the river bank. Only problem are the horse leftovers that you have to watch out.
Awesome trails for hiking. Has a couple of playgrounds and frisbee golf. Also all the way in the back of the park there is a waterfall that is just beautiful.
This is a fun part of the greater Patapsco State Park. No good trails for wheelchairs, however. Aside from that the disc golf course is 2nd best in MD and the park is well kept. We are regulars here for the trails and disc golf.
Switchback trail (white blazes) is a very beautiful trail that goes all around the park and follows much of the river The trail, nice and rolling, is great for trail running and hiking, and is also lined with wild raspberries that fruit starting summer through fall. You can see tons of butterflies and hear the sound of toads, plus quite a few birds (saw a gorgeous red cardinal). I'll be back! The trail is not at all crowded, some hikers and equestrians. Highly recommend. You can hear the activity on part of the trail from the Marriottsville Gun Range near Liberty Reservoir, but its safe (they shoot at an embankment far away). You can take Plantation trail back to Rangers station if it gets bothersome. Also recommend Los Compadres nearby for excellent post-hike/run good mexican food!!
Hiked down by the river and had a picnic lunch near the main playground. Great place for a half-day hike.
